July 2012

We expected a smaller turnout due to it being the summer, but were surprised to have about 20 people turn out! Thanks to Ron Witkowski from Love2Brew for bringing in a bunch of new faces! Hope to see you all at future meetings.

June 2012

We sampled 24 of the single hop brews at this meeting, and had a full-sized turnout of about 30 people!

March 2012

Whoa guys and gals! What a meeting that was. With about 29 people attending, that back space was definitely maxed out and we set a new all-time attendance record. Once the remaining customers cleared out, there was enough space for everyone to grab a seat.We had a great brew list with 21 brews to sample, including English-style milds and ales, plenty of IPAs, a bunch of flavored stouts and porters, heavy hitters like barleywines and Belgian strongs, and two meads! Big thanks to Kelly DiGian for bringing a bonus food pairing with Dave and Bill’s Vanilla Porter – and she is looking to create another pairing for the next meeting, so if anyone is interested in volunteering their beer, let me know!

In anticipation of a repeat blockbuster meeting next month, we’re going to put 1 or 2 things in place to help us be more prepared next time. First off, we’ll have an EventBrite registration page, just like the Single Hop Project. It will be a HUGE help for Harvest Moon to know in advance how many of us are coming, so Kyle can plan to reserve as many tables as necessary for our group. Also, on the registration page I’ll include fields for you to fill out the style and details of your beer. That will help me compile the flight list IN ADVANCE… imagine that!

On that note, to those brewers whose beers I missed earlier in the flight, sorry about that. I am looking for someone to VOLUNTEER to take over flight list duties – somebody step up! It’s a great learning experience trying to order the beers from lightest (in flavor) to heaviest (in flavor) so that your palate is able to experience the subtleties of each beer as we go through 15-20 samples. Email me if interested, and see you all next time!

February 2012

Thanks everyone for coming out! It was a great turnout with 20 brewers in attendance. If anyone picked up the flight list, please msg me. A few shout outs are in order – thanks to Bolero Snort Brewery for providing their Oak Aged Longhop and the bottle of Sam Adams Infinium! Also thanks to Harvest Moon Brewery & Cafe for providing us space to meet! I lost the flight list, but some of the more memorable beers for me tonight were the Peanut Butter Porter from Bobby, the Scotch IPA from Stephen, and the Jade IPA from Ila!

January 2012

Wow what a meeting! We expected about 5 people to show this early in the year, and instead we had a near-record meeting with 18, including 3 new! And the flight list spanned the spectrum, from a Mango Wheat beer to a 1776 Porter to an American Triple. This might have been one of our most creative meetings in terms of the beers brewed. Here is the flight list, in no particular order.

  1. Dave R., 1776 Porter
  2. Ron W., Blonde Ale
  3. Stephen D., American Triple, Porter, and IPA
  4. Bill S., Rogenbier (WLP300) and Rogenbier (WLP350)
  5. Ben B., Pumpkin Stout
  6. Robert W., Porter and IPA
  7. Russell A., Cherry Stout and Bourbon Vanilla Porter
  8. Bobby and Jay, Double IPA
  9. Steve R., Mango Wheat and Horsehead Pumpkin Ale (Commercial)
  10. Jon M., Belgian Dubbel
  11. Bill H., Horseradish Beer and Sour Barleywine
